The Order of the Arrow (O-A) is the highest evolution of scouting. The mission of the lodge is to use the Order of the Arrow as an integral part of Boy Scouts of America in the council through positive youth leadership under the guidence of selected capable adults.
The O-A is a completly youth run organization, with only the adults as advisors to the work and decisions. The primary goal of the Order of the Arrow and Wipala-Wiki Lodge 432, is to perform cheerful service to those in need.
┤ Why does the Order of the Arrow exist?
î To recognize those campers - Scouts and Scouters - who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives, and by such recognition, cause other campers to conduct themselves in such a manner as to deserve recognition.
ì To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
Ä To promote Scout camping, which reaches it's greatest effectivness as a part of the unit's camping program, both year-round and in the summer camps, as directed by the camping committee of the council.
Å To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life of purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.
┤ How do I get into the Order of the Arrow?
Becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow isn't as easy as becoming a member of the Boy Scouts or Explorers. To be eligable to become a member, a scout must have achieved the rank of First Class Scout, and have gone on at least fifteen (15) nights of camping with his troop. To become a member, the scout must be elected to the Order by his fellow scouts of his troop.
